Apocalypse in Action : MoFo
Beginner's Guide
As this guide is only for beginners, we'll vaguely cover the topics of MoFo. Be on the lookout for a much more brief and advanced version of the guide soon.
Overview
Apocalypse MoFo (or Mofo or Apoc) is currently considered the most active map to play. You'll usually see this map on the top of the server list. Hosted by allejo, many new players start out BZFlag playing Apoc due to its immense popularity. Apoco allows profanity and believes in free speech. Please note that this doesn't give any player the right to troll or act like an asshat. In this CTF action-packed map, many flags are included and they even have some of their own flags (master baiter, ass cannon, air strike, etc)
Playing
MoFo offers CTF or capture the flag in a maximum of 15 v 15. Green vs red (though, this has been changed in the past). In CTF, the goal is to bring the enemy flag to your base. If you're playing as a green tank, the objective is to take the red flag and land it on your green base. Vice versa. A very unique feature MoFo offers is that the team flag is a genocide flag. Genocide is the ability to annihilate the entire enemy team by only shooting just one enemy tank. You do not lose any personal points if your teammate has been genocide but you will have to respawn, a very tedious process if it were to occur repeatedly. If you are geno'ed, you will lose many points depending on how many players are on your team. Your personal points will then be transferred to the genocider. For example, if the enemy geno'ed you and you have 9 teammates, plus you, equals 10, you would lost 10 personal points and the genocider would gain 10 personal points. This is the main key feature that differs Mofo from other CTF maps. Another feature is differentiates mofo from other maps is the ability to gain points from a capture. Capturing the flag will earn you many points, especially if your team has lesser members than the enemie's. An algorithm is used to determine the amount of points the capturer gets based on number of tanks on each side. If you capture a flag whilst having 9 teammates and the enemy has 7 or under, be expected to lose points and be trolled at. There are flags that balance these features. The recently added, "Master Baiter" flag acts as a counter-act against the ever powerful genocide flag (team flag). If you were shot by the enemy genocider whilst having the master baiter flag, actions will be reversed and the enemy team will be destroyed. Another flag to make capture harder is the thief flag. Use this flag to steal the enemies flag, or even your teammates flag. Thief can steal any flag in the game from any player.
Controversy
While MoFo can be a fun map to play at, it is argued that MoFo provides a negative feature to the overall game of BZFlag. You are expected to hear a substantial amount of profanity when playing at MoFo. Very few maps on BZFlag will allow profanity. Another problem is that when new players join BZFlag, they will most likely spawn at Mofo because it dominates being on the top of the server list. New players or "noobs" will be destroyed and beaten at Mofo... Painfully.
